2014 Big Sister Season Kickoff Clinic

To kickoff the 2014 Montville girls basketball season, 20+ youth travel players ran through drills, scrimmaged, and were coached by the Montville high school players.  It was great to see the 4th-8th graders interact with the high schoolers and build a relationship with them.  The environment was upbeat and fun and we could already see the togetherness of the Montville girls basketball family.  That bond will only strengthen this season...

The Big Sister program was set up starting last year to help encourage the girls basketball players to take ownership of the program no matter how old they are.  The idea is to have the high schoolers help out a travel team with practices, watch some games, and be a "Big Sister" to the players on that team (when time permits) and for the travel team players to come to the high school games and support their Big Sisters.  The travel team players will also be able to see most of the same plays they use being run by the high school players.

The HS basketball schedule can be found on the Montville Girls Basketball website.  Roll Stangs!

2013-14 Season Recap

Congrats to all of the 2013-14 Montville girls travel basketball teams on their success this past season.  Some of you showed that success based on your team's record, some of you showed immense improvements individually, some of you battled playing against older or more competitive teams, while other teams played better and more cohesive as the year went on.

The main theme is that your improvement stems from commitment to basketball and a willingness to work hard.  That is the main quality I look for in athletes.  As we enter the offseason, find the time to work on your basketball skills.  I have seen big improvements in the past from those who have that work ethic... and that could be you!

This blog, started in May 2014, will be updated regularly with offseason information and girls basketball recaps beginning with the 2014-15 season.
